The strong commitment to junior golf and the history
of the game in general is founded on the principle that there is no
better way to ensure the future of golf than by investing in junior
programs and preserving golf's rich heritage.
The committee:
- Conducts amateur championships for the following categories of golfer: men, senior men, and junior boys.
- Encompasses BCGA Zone 4 clubs for the promotion
of the game and is the chief coordinator of the 9 Yr-Plan of events
conducted by the BCGA Zone 4 ICGC and Women’s Zone 4 committee.
- Maintains and supports a wide variety of Inter-Club
amateur golf events, both for team, league and individual play. Awards
are made for the Golfer of the Year in the Junior and Senior categories.
Juniors also have the opportunity to take advantage of clinics and seminar
programs
- Maintains a close tie with the Junior Golf Foundation
of B.C. and B.C. Golf House. Strong support is lent to those who wish
to develop their golf in B.C. and the B.C. Golf House is an outstanding
resource centre of information, available to all as we enter B.C.'s
second century of golf history.
- Provides support and assistance to local notable
events.
- Distributes an annual roster of the Inter-Club
golf officials and lists member clubs with mailing addresses, email
and websites. The Roster also includes the name of the course architect
as well as course and slope ratings. Winners of our major Championships,
namely the Vancouver City Amateur, Junior and Senior are also listed
going back to the founding of the Inter-Club Golf Committee in 1913.
Golf is truly the 'Game of a Lifetime', and we
trust each member of the Vancouver and District Inter-Club Golf Committee
will find an interest in as many programs as possible, and even offer
their assistance by volunteering where possible. Your input into ICGC
activities is welcome of course, anytime. Good golfing to you all!
